Time to party?

These are the best places for a drink in St Kilda.

  • Pontoon St Kilda

    Pontoon

When I go for a drink with my mates I go to Pontoon. It is what St Kilda is all about, the beach and good vibes.

In the middle of summer it can get too packed so make sure you have a backup plan.

  • Hotel Esplanade St Kilda

    The Espy

St Kilda’s most iconic venue has been completely revamped and it is excellent. The Espy hasn’t lost its cool St Kilda grunge and still hosts great bands, but now has the best selection of tap beer in St Kilda and very nice pizzas.

  • Captain Baxter

    Captain Baxter

Part of the St Kilda Sea Baths complex is Captain Baxter. Go VIP and secure a balcony booth on a sunny afternoon this place is great for people watching and being elevated enhances the view.

  • Village Belle Hotel

    Village Belle

More of a late night venue than the others on this list the Village Belle is good choice when you want to let your hair down.

Village Belle have pretty reasonable DJs on weekends and generally a pretty chilled crowd.

  • The Prince Hotel

    The Prince Hotel

Besides your fridge, this is the closest place to get a beer. The Prince Public Bar is more a gastro pub than a place to have a drink, however it is still a really lovely place to enjoy a cheeky one or two before heading to somewhere more lively.

  • Republica

    Republica

Hard to know what you will find at Republica. You can find a chilled beachfront venue, a heaving dance floor or nearly deserted bar depending on the day.

Republica at its best is an afternoon acoustic band session, check out their ‘what’s on’ section of their website before heading down.

Kathryn and I have been living in St Kilda for more than 10 years, we think it is the best suburb in Melbourne.
