St Kilda is Melbourne’s premier beachside playground.

So Lets Play.

  • Jon Ellis Kiteboarding in St Kilda

    Kiteboarding

Learn to fly like me (yes that really is me). Kiteboarding is seriously addictive and St Kilda is one of the best places to learn in Australia with consistent winds and a nice wide beach.

Chris and the crew at Kite Republic St Kilda will get you up and riding in no time.

  • St Kilda Beach

    St Kilda Beach

St Kilda Beach is great at any time of the day. On a warm evening the vibe is uniquely St Kilda and you will usually find groups of people playing music, singing and dancing.

Head down to the beach and turn left to walk along the boardwalk and soak it in.

  • St Kilda Penguins

    Penguins

How cute are these guys, seriously!!! Most people don’t know but St Kilda is actually home to a penguin colony, so you don’t need to drive all the way to Philip Island to see these little treasures.

Walk along St Kilda pier, past the restaurant and onto the breakwater. The viewing platform is just there. Dusk is the best time to see penguins.

  • Albert Park Lake

    Walks

St Kilda has an abundance of quality urban and semi urban walks, both guided and self-led. My favourite two walks are:

St Kilda – Elwood: Walk to St Kilda beach and turn left. Follow the coastline to Elwood Bathers for lunch then walk back.

Albert Park Lake: Head up Fitzroy Street, away from the beach, and turn left at Lakeside drive. The lake is a flat 4.8kms around and a great place for a walk or run.

  • Rainroom St Kilda

    Rainroom

When walking out of your front door at the St Kilda Beachfront Penthouse look 45 degrees to the right and you will see a big white box on the roof of the Prince carpark. That is the Rainroom.

The Rainroom is a very cool experience and for anyone who enjoys installation art it is a must do.

You’re so close so why not.

  • Stand Up Paddle Boarding St Kilda

    Stand Up Paddle

People of most ages and fitness levels can enjoy Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUPing for those in the know).

You can hire SUPs from Kite Republic or get some gear and helpful pointers from the team at SUP HQ who are usually parked on St Kilda foreshore to the right of the pier.

Kathryn and I have been living in St Kilda for more than 10 years, we think it is the best suburb in Melbourne.
